I'm Lindsey, a freelance illustrator with a love for travel and writing.

There are all kinds of travel enthusiasts out there. I approach travel in a playful way–finding inspiration from literature, film, art, and even agriculture. My goal here is to invigorate, inspire, and encourage the planning and the doing of travel. Think of me as an advocate.

Travel is precious and should be documented as such. I document travel through writing and hand-drawn maps. My writing often covers what inspires me to travel in the first place. And the maps highlight the paths we take and memories we make along the way.

WHY I LOVE TO DO WHAT I DO

My grandma is a wonderful painter. She loves to sketch out and paint pictures from her travels, especially ones from New England. It’s a rare covered bridge or lighthouse she’s hasn’t painted.

She taught me the drawing part of her passion at an early age. She also inundated me with magazines- Architectural Digest and National Geographic especially took my interest. I would study these wild lives, far-away places, and decadent spaces featured and imagine how my world might collide with theirs.

I fell in love with travel on my first trip out to Chicago. I was young and full of dreams and the city was pulsing and full of possibility. The "L" could take me anywhere. At least that’s how it seemed as I admired the tallest building I’d ever seen in my life thus far.

Over the years I've realized travel brings my creativity to life. I love to create travel plans- you’ll find these on my blog. And I love to draw out the places I’ve been, the ones that have carved out space in my heart- you’ll find these in my illustrated maps. Take a look around the site, and reach out to me if I can bring the places you love to life on a map of your own.
